Day 12 Update

YAY! One More FRIEND. Rebecca Murfin accepted my invitation to be my friend. Becky's my CTA class mate and my Buddy for coursework. Am now eagerly waiting for more to sign in to check out this space after Summer.

During the last two weeks, I have updated my walls on other social networking sites but not this one. Maybe because it is simply more fun doing things when you get feedback, response or just have company doing the same things. All the more reason for me to try to overcome the inertia on this great platform for discussion =)

I have been coaching individuals and groups, made an early morning presentation on 'employee engagement'. The thing is that corporations seem to think that engagement is something that employees are holding back. It seems to me that people who ask for help in engaging their flocks need to feel engaged themselves. Where is the energy? People mirror each other consciously and subconsciously. No? What's your experience and what do you think?

Enjoy every bit of what's left of summer!!

Day 1 followup on Action Plan

Ok I checked in and have one Friend. Hurray! Hi  Bill Weiss. Great to connect. We traded emails before to get my CTA cert and to get started on this Community. That was many moons ago. So HELLO again and thanks!

I am still waiting for my buddies from my CTA class to accept me as Friend.  I am sure they would when they sign in again or at least I hope they will.

Asking myself the question I asked yesterday: what do we want from this website? Hmm .... for myself, I am

  • looking for buddies to trade war stories, tips and challenges
  • reaching out to those who are still thinking about becoming a coach
  • making myself available to share applications of positive psychology
  • curious about the issues that might come up
  • extending my coaching services beyond my own geography
  • making friends and networking

Mind you, I have an introvert's profile on the Myers-Briggs. Today I stretched out my hand to 4 strangers who were waiting in a room with me to say 'hello' too.

Somehow it is more comfortable to be in a place where people connect than just co-exist. What do you think?

What do we want from here?

I just scrolled through the entire directory of 462 members of this Community and found that most members had 0 Friends (myself included). So I set myself to inviting my CTA classmates and MentorCoaches to be my Friend. Now I wonder how many will respond and when.

This is a GREAT forum! Yet at any time that I come here, there are many guests and few members online?! Hmm I wonder why. People come here for a reason. What are those reasons? People join this community as members - for a reason. What ARE those reasons? Whatever they may be - it is perhaps also a response to an inner call to fellowship with like-minded folks.

If my guess is right, then this site needs a LIFE! We have so many other avenues - Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In etc etc - and still we chose to register here.  No one has attempted to contact me and I have not, until half an hour ago, contacted anyone else.  There are no discussions either.

GREAT! that means doing anything at all will be a PLUS =)  Ask a question of the Faculty. Post a rhetoric question. Invite another member to be Friend (I just did). Post a photo. Write a Blog (like I'm doing now). Write something on Profile. Etc.

Am looking forward to connecting with other members ...
