I received my certification from CTA three years ago. I was very honoured to be invited by Will Craig, the owner/founder of CTA to join the faculty at the end of the summer of 2005, and am excited about the classes in 2006.
Although my coaching business is only 4 years old, like most of you, I've been coaching people for years. My niche is singles who are tired of the dating scene, and my specialty is helping them prepare to find the right Life Partner and build solid, lasting relationships. I'm licensed with the Relationship Coaching Institute, whose values and philosophies closely align my own. Please visit my website at http://www.make-it-so.ca to learn more about me and my coaching business.
I spent over 30 years working in the not-for-profit sector, the final twelve of which were as an Executive Director. For ten of those, I taught effective communication and active listening, along with crisis and suicide theory and prevention / intervention techniques to those who would be answering our 24 hour telephone helpline. I spent a lot of my time coaching and mentoring staff and volunteers within the Distress Centre organization, and colleagues throughout the not-for-profit sector. When deciding on my niche though, I chose not to go back into the executive business world as a coach.
My real passion is my family and my relationships with my husband, children, family and friends. Over the years, and to this day, people often ask us what our secret is, and have told us they use our marriage and family as a model. In an effort to organize my thoughts and respond, I wrote a small book entitled "Do It Yourself Relationship Repair Guide", which was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I urge you all to try writing your own books. I'm also the advice columnist "Ask Coach Nan" in our regional newspaper chain.
I'm 57 years old and live in Oshawa, east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with my soulmate, Paul. We've been extremely happily married since 1970, have two adult children (a daughter, Kristen, 32 and a son, Markham, 29) and a son-in-law (Jeff) of whom we are extremely proud, and with whom we are great friends. Our first grandchild, Nash, was born Oct. 25, 2005. We have two dogs - a Harlequin Great Dane, Ripley, and an Olde English Sheepdog, Emma, who were 3 and 2 yrs. old respectively in Jan. 2006. Throughout the years we have taken in a number of young people who have needed a safe, nurturing environment and support while they sought to change their lives for the better. We remain in contact with most of them today.
I'm living a life I LOVE!
