Daily Life Key: Notify Your Negative Thought Patterns and Emotions That Their TIME IS UP!

I have a Coaching technique that I teach my Clients called The 90 Second Rule. Neuroscientists have proven that our minds only require 90 seconds to process anything that happens to us. We begin to create and re-create experiences in our lives simply because instead of utilizing 90 seconds to feel and process our experiences, we allow them to replay on a loop in our minds. This is true for both negative and positive experiences; however, we have a tendency to practice negativity bias (which we'll cover in another DLK) in our lives so we manifest more negative experiences by repeating memories and thoughts than we do positive.

Today my heart was heavy and my mind kept replaying the memory of something "bad" that had happened this past weekend, which caused me to feel sad, frustrated, and consumed by the thought of what it seemed I had lost. I carried that heaviness with me into today and when I tried to start my work day, things just weren't flowing right. I lacked focus, I felt immeasurably sad, and nothing seemed to be working the way I wanted it to. I heard a whisper, "Practice what you teach," and the 90 Second Rule came flashing to the forefront of my mind. I walked away from my work, set a 90 second alarm on my cell phone, closed my eyes, and allowed all of the emotions, sadness, and loss to completely engulf my mind, body, and Spirit. I remained present in the moment, opening the door for all of my fears and negative thoughts to have their way. Tears flowed and pain wracked my heart and body and then, the alarm I had set went off. I wiped my tears and reached over to see my phone screaming a message and directive to me and my sadness: "Time is up." I smiled from the inside out, knowing that message was especially for me. I was able to walk away and continue on with the rest of my day.

TIMES UP

Send notification to your sadness, depression, lack, struggle, anger, fear, frustration, heartache, disappointment, victim mentality, doom and gloom, and all the rest of your negative emotions and thoughts that their TIME IS UP!!! Take 90 seconds out of your day to face and FULLY experience your unwanted feelings, agitation, and despair, and then release them. Watch a movie that makes you laugh, listen to a song that brings you joy, meditate, visualize a positive end result, do whatever you have to do to remain in a place of positivity. Never ignore how you're feeling because you will only cause what you don't want to grow. But don't give unnecessary amounts of time and attention to the unwanted. Give them what they require which is 90 seconds. If you need to repeat the 90 Second Rule a few times throughout the day, that's fine too. But remind yourself that your power is always in the present moment. Tap into your Divinity and your ability to choose, and focus on healing, positive forward movement, and an abundance of all things you desire!
